about

FANDANGO was born through a mix of electronic based music and typical Portuguese instruments (accordion and portuguese guitar) - the result of a junction between Gabriel Gomes and Luis Varatojo, two very experienced musicians, former members of bands such as Sétima Legião and Madredeus (Gabriel) and Peste & Sida and A Naifa (Luis). FANDANGO’s songs are an exotic mix of portuguese melodies and electronic beats, that can make the perfect soundtrack for a sunset in the west coast, or the power tune for a late night dance in Lisbon. The diversity of rhythms and sound elements captures the soul of portuguese music, in a colorful harmony with the synthetiser's layers and drum machine patterns, that takes you in a trip around the country's beautiful landscapes and culture. Quoting a Público newspaper's review: “FANDANGO is a tourist guide to dance”. Released in September the 4th on CD and LP.
